lil guy - Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

lil guy is a desktop pet for macOS. He walks around your screen, sits on your windows, and occasionally does a little dance. The developer collects nothing.

What the app stores

Your settings - chosen character, size, sound preference, and any sprite packs you import - are stored on your Mac, inside the app's own sandboxed container. That's the entire list. There are no accounts, no analytics, no identifiers, and no tracking of any kind.

Network use

None. lil guy has no network access at all - the app cannot send or receive anything, by construction.

Permissions

lil guy requests no system permissions: no Accessibility access, no Screen Recording, no Input Monitoring, no keyboard observation. To know where to sit, he reads only the positions of windows on screen (their frames and owning app names) through a standard public macOS API - never window titles or contents. Idle detection uses the system's passive "seconds since last input" counter, which observes no actual input.

Sprite packs

Sprite packs you import are copied into the app's local container and never leave your Mac. Packs you export are written only to the folder you choose.

Uninstalling

Deleting the app plus its container (~/Library/Containers/com.lilguy.desktop) removes everything.
